Getting one or two overs from your all-rounder with the new ball could be a good way to plan your resources better. On that note, here we take a look at the list of three all-rounders who could open the bowling in IPL 2025.
1) Sam Curran
CSK does not have other options in this regard. Khaleel Ahmed will surely take the new ball and Sam Curran will be a strong option to be his partner.
Sam has done the job before in the IPL and also for CSK. He shall be used as a floater in the batting unit and having him bowl a few overs with the new ball will help CSK use Pathirana only for the death and middle overs.
2) Azmatullah Omarzai
Azmatullah Omarzai is one of the all-rounders who could open the bowling in IPL 2025. The Afghan is at the peak of his prowess across all levels.
PBKS could think of extracting the best out of him with the new ball. This could help the franchise have an extra foreign pacer in the side.
3) Marcus Stoinis
If Punjab Kings’ batting line-up has a few problems, the management could think of having an extra foreign batter in the playing XI.
Then, someone like Stoinis might have to take the new ball along with Arshdeep Singh. However, this might not be a solution for the first few matches.
