Trade deals happen usually to solve a squad issue for the next one or two seasons. However, the franchises have changed their approach now. They now have a futuristic view and if a player is deemed good enough for the future, even if he is expensive for the moment, they pull off a trade deal. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two traded players who could be retained before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.

1) Hardik Pandya

As per reports, Mumbai Indians paid a hefty amount to secure the services of Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans. Having done so much and having gone through so much after appointing him as the skipper, it would be a shock if Mumbai Indians released Hardik.

From a cricketing point of view, it makes sense to retain Hardik. He is the best all-rounder in India and he is back to form. His fitness is also decent now. The player has already proved his mettle as a skipper. He is fairly young and has at least a decade more left in his career. All these factors make him a very realistic retention.

2) Cameron Green

Cameron Green is one of the traded players who could be retained before IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Many were shocked when RCB decided to spend more than INR 17 Cr to trade Green from Mumbai Indians. However, it is clear that the management had an eye on the future.

Green is one of the best young all-rounders in the game. He did well in IPL 2024 and that must have further made the management confident about him. He can contribute in both departments and the Aussie can also be a captaincy option in the future. Therefore, RCB might retain him along with the likes of Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Mohammed Siraj.
