2 popular commentators you might not know were once part of the management of an IPL franchise

Usually, when it comes to commentators, we mainly notice former cricketers taking up the role. However, in recent times and also in the past, we have seen candidates who did not play much of the game but still do a good job as a commentator. Interestingly, some of these commentators were also hired by an IPL franchise in the past. On that note, here, we take a look at two popular commentators you might not know were once part of the management of an IPL franchise.

1) Harsha Bhogle – Advisor to Mumbai Indians for IPL 2008

Harsha Bhogle, also called as the Voice of Cricket, is one of the famous commentators in cricket. For the last few decades, he has been an active part of the commentary panel. Interestingly, barring some years at the junior level, he never played cricket at the highest level. Yet, he manages to engage the viewers with good analytical input about the game.

Back in 2008, when the IPL started, Harsha Bhogle was hired by the Mumbai Indians as an advisor. Back then, we did not have a concept such as the Mentor. Hence, a candidate like Harsha was chosen for this role.

2) Charu Sharma – CEO of RCB for IPL 2008

Charu Sharma is one of the popular commentators you might not know was once part of the management of an IPL franchise. In recent years, he has not been active. However, around two decades ago, he was one of the premier commentators in the game. Recently, he was also involved in the IPL 2022 Mega Auctions.

For IPL 2008, he was the CEO of RCB. However, the franchise did not do well. They finished seventh on the points table. Hence, Charu was sacked from the role. Since then, he has not been an active part of the IPL until the Mega Auctions in 2022.
