The 2003 ODI World Cup was held between 9 February 2003 to 24 March 2003. For many fans of this generation, this event is one of the earliest memories of the game. We have come so far that it is now two decades since the tournament happened. Interestingly, a few players were born during that tournament, and they will play in the upcoming ODI World Cup. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two players who were born during the 2003 ODI WC and might play in the 2023 ODI WC.

1) Naseem Shah (Pakistan) – Born on 15 February 2003

Naseem Shah is a high-profile name on this list. He has already done so much and he is still 20 years old. He has so much time to develop and further improve as a cricketer. The Pakistan pacer was also born during the 2003 ODI World Cup.

He will form a potent fast-bowling partnership with Shaheen Afridi in the 2023 ODI WC. It will arguably be the best new-ball pair at the event. Naseem has not played in India before and it needs to be seen if he can replicate his form on Indian pitches. This will go a long way in defining how Pakistan would perform in the tournament.

2) Suliman Safi (Afghanistan) – Born on 17 March 2003

Suliman Safi is one of the players who was born during the 2003 ODI WC and might play in the 2023 ODI WC. The captain of the Afghanistan squad for the 2022 U19 World Cup, the top-order batter has been selected for Asia Cup 2023.

Hence, it is likely that he would be named in the ODI World Cup squad. Interestingly, he is yet to make his senior debut and he played his last and only List-A game way back in 2019. However, with Afghan teenagers, they take little time to get used to the highest level. The Afghan fans will hope the same with Suliman.
