Rishabh Pant will have to pay a fine of INR 30 Lakhs and also miss the match against RCB due to slow over rate. It was the third offence for him against Rajasthan Royals the other day. Although Delhi Capitals made an appeal, BCCI dismissed it. It will be a big blow for DC to miss their in-form batter and captain against RCB in a crucial match. The management will also have to find a good leader in the absence of Pant. Here, we take a look at the list of two players who can captain DC against RCB after Rishabh Pant was suspended for one game.
1) Axar Patel
Last season, when Rishabh Pant was not available, Axar Patel was named the skipper of the side. Hence, Axar Patel is the logical option to replace Pant as the skipper.
He also has sufficient experience to fill this role. That said, it is a crucial game for Delhi and since Axar has not captained much in the past, it will be a big risk for Ricky Ponting to take this decision.
2) David Warner
David Warner is one of the players who can captain DC against RCB after Rishabh Pant was suspended for one game. In the last few games, Warner has not found a place in the team. In Abishek Porel and JFM, DC has found a good opening combination.
However, Warner is the only one with some captaincy experience in the setup. Shai Hope played at No.3 and he is yet to fire. DC could consider slotting Warner at the top and having Porel at No.3. Since the game will happen in Bengaluru, the pitch could help Warner get back his form. Nevertheless, the RCB bowling attack is also in decent form. DC will hope that the experience of Warner will help him.
