As per reports, Royal Challengers Bangalore will part ways with Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar before IPL 2024. While Bangar was the Head Coach of the Men’s Team, Hesson was the Director of Cricket Operations for the entire franchise. Therefore, it is likely that Royal Challengers Bangalore will make two appointments before the campaign. On that note, here, we take a look at two options for RCB to replace Mike Hesson as Director of Cricket Operations.
1) Ravi Shastri
Ravi Shastri enjoyed good success as the Head Coach of Team India. After the stint, he has been a commentator and Commissioner of the Legends League Cricket. While it is difficult to imagine him taking up the role of a Head Coach again, the position of the Director of Cricket might interest him.
He is also a good candidate to take up the role, especially with his experience. He has seen the IPL for as long as ever and also knows Indian cricket very well. Considering he is a senior figure and well respected, all of it could combine well to make it a well-balanced option for the Bengaluru-based franchise.
2) Tom Moody
Tom Moody is one of the options for RCB to replace Mike Hesson as Director of Cricket Operations. The former Australian cricketer has held a similar role at SRH before. While his appointment could be a bold one, in terms of direction and strategy, he will bring plenty to the table.
Even as a Head Coach, Moody has done well at SRH before. Especially in the construction of bowling attacks, Moody is a top performer. RCB needs someone with experience as this role will be for both the men’s and women’s squads. Therefore, Moody will be an ideal candidate to take up Mike Hesson’s role at RCB for IPL 2024 and beyond.
