2 Indian cricketers dropped for ODI World Cup who might consider retirement from the format

The competition for places in Team India is immense. Despite doing well in the chances he got, Sanju Samson is still not able to crack an opportunity. A few veterans might even retire from ODIs to focus on the other challenges. On that note, here, we take a look at two Indian cricketers dropped for the ODI World Cup who might consider retirement from the format.

1) Shikhar Dhawan

Until the last day, there was hope that Shikhar Dhawan would get a chance in the Indian ODI squad for the World Cup. However, it is apparent that the management moved on from him a long time ago. It was also a justified move considering Shubman Gill is the future of the team.

Dhawan even did not get a chance to play in the Asian Games. Now, it is clear that he might not have a future in the Indian Team. Therefore, Dhawan might, as well, retire from the ODIs, at least so that he might pass on the List A chances in domestic cricket to someone younger. Dhawan, keeping in mind his concern for the future, could do that.

2) Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one of the Indian cricketers dropped for the ODI World Cup who might consider retirement from the format. You cannot say that Bhuvi was dropped from the team. He was never considered. It was in January 2022 that he last played an ODI for India.

He might have been a decent option to have in the current scenario. Bhuvi is still a fine new-ball bowler and a better No.8 batter than the current options. That said, having not been picked for the Asian Games, as well, Bhuvi might consider retirement. He is just 33 but injuries have not been kind to him. Hence, Bhuvi could have to take some tough decisions in the coming months.
