Indian Cricket League introduced the concept of a franchise league with a mix of Indian and overseas players even before the IPL. However, the BCCI never recognized the league. Eventually, the players who stayed out of IPL until a few seasons were given an amnesty later on. Hence, the likes of Stuart Binny and Ambati Rayudu got a chance to play in the Indian Premier League. Interestingly, some of the ICL cricketers have done well to become Head Coach in the IPL, as well. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two former ICL players who became Head Coaches in the IPL.

1) Brian Lara

Brian Lara played for the Mumbai Champs in the ICL. He was one of the elite players in the league. Interestingly, although he went under the hammer, no team took him in the IPL. That was mainly because he was not very established in the T20 format.

As a Head Coach, Lara served a season at SRH. There were many expectations and the team was also a very good one. However, Lara failed to do well with his coaching and eventually, the franchise and the legend had to part ways. Daniel Vettori took over from Lara as the Head Coach.

2) Hemang Badani

Hemang Badani is one of the former ICL players who became Head Coaches in the IPL. The Tamil Nadu cricketer is the latest to join this list. He was on the payroll of CSK for a while but did not get to play for them.
