Injury problems are haunting almost every team ahead of the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup. It is a part and parcel of the modern game and is unavoidable. Nevertheless, for the players, it would be a shattering thought to miss out on a high-profile tournament due to an injury. In the recent IPL, Chennai Super Kings saw many injury issues. A few players could suffer a similar fate before the World Cup. Here, we take a look at the list of two CSK players who could miss the 2023 ODI World Cup due to injury.

1) Maheesh Theekshana

The Sri Lankan spinner missed the Asia Cup 2023 final due to an injury. Captain Dasun Shanaka, before the game, specified that it was a hamstring injury.

Usually, a hamstring takes three to eight weeks to recover. It needs to be seen the intensity of Theekshana’s injury. There is a possibility that the youngster could miss the tournament. It would be a big blow for Sri Lanka if that happens. Wanindu Hasaranga already has an injury issue and if Theekshana is also having a problem, the spin attack would lose its strength.

2) Sisanda Magala

Sisanda Magala is one of the CSK players who could miss the 2023 ODI World Cup due to injury. Firstly, it was a major surprise when Sisanda Magala was picked for the tournament. South Africa has a plethora of pacers and Sisanda Magala seemed surplus to requirements, at least, on paper.

The pacer is having an issue with his left knee. Coach Rob Walter’s recent comments have not inspired confidence about Sisanda Magala’s return to the squad. It would be a terrible miss for the player, considering he had an opportunity to impress many with his performance in India. Andile Phehlukwayo is the most likely candidate to replace Magala if the CSK pacer misses out on the final squad.
