Ashes 2023 has lived up to the expectations so far as both the games have been enthralling to watch. England and Australia have played a high-quality brand of cricket as both the games went down the wire and there wasn’t any surety about who will win. But Australia has managed to keep their nerves better and in the end, clinched the games by the barest of margins.

2 changes that England should make for the third Ashes to get back to winning ways

England will be disappointed with the way how the results of both games have gone. They could’ve won them and the scoreline of the series would’ve been different as well. With the series on the line for them in the next game, it is expected that they would come out all guns blazing in the next game and take some bold calls. The third Test between the teams is slated to take place on the 6th July and it is expected that England might make some changes. Let’s take a look at 2 of them:

Mark Wood in place of Joshua Tongue

One of the changes that England would be looking to make is they would be looking to add Mark Wood to the team in place of Joshua Tongue. The pacer has missed the first two games due to injury and he will likely be fit for the third game. The additional pace of Mark Wood can come in handy for England. The Ben Stokes-led side used the short ball ploy a lot but they didn’t have the desired pace to do that. Therefore with Mark Wood entering the team would cover all the bases. Joshua Tongue had a decent last game but with Wood being experienced, he will likely replace him.

Chris Woakes in place of James Anderson

Another change that England might make is they can bring in Chris Woakes in place of James Anderson. The veteran pacer looked clueless in two games and England lacked a batter in the second game and the addition of Chris Woakes will boost the batting as well. The addition of Chris Woakes will allow England to have another swing bowler in the team and with English wickets offering great swing, he could be handy. Woakes has contributed equally well with bat and ball for England and he will likely be there for the next game.
