“1st Ball Duck, Car Stolen”- Carlos Brathwaite Shares His Experience Of Playing Village Cricket In England

West Indies cricket team’s star all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite had a forgettable day. Brathwaite’s career has had many ups and downs. The all-rounder came into the limelight when he hit four consecutive sixes off Ben Stokes’ bowling in the final match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

However, because of injury issues, he could not cement his place in the West Indies team and has been struggling at the moment. Brathwaite had a surgery after suffering a shoulder injury, and he is all set to captain the Birmingham Bears next month in England’s T20 Blast tournament.

To warm himself up for the competition, Carlos Brathwaite decided to play village cricket in England. However, he did not have a memorable experience.

Sharing the days that happened with him while playing for the Knowle and Dorridge Cricket Club in Birmingham & District Premier League, Brathwaite wrote on Twitter:

“What a day yesterday – First time bowling in a game after injury for six months  – First ball duck from a long hop  – Car stolen  But you know what , woke up this morning , Sun is shining and giving thanks.”

Carlos Brathwaite has played for multiple teams in the Indian Premier League

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League is currently happening in India, but Carlos Brathwaite is not a part of the competition. The Caribbean all-rounder was not 100% fit. He has played for the Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past.

Brathwaite will be aiming to regain his touch in the T20 Blast tournament and then make a comeback to the West Indies team for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled to happen Down Under later this year. It will be interesting to see if Brathwaite can revive his career. He will soon play for Birmingham Bears as a captain.
