The Lahore Qalandars became the sixth franchise to win the Pakistan Super League trophy last night when they beat the defending champions Multan Sultans in the summit clash. Playing under the leadership of fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, the Lahore-based franchise cruised to their first title win in front of their home fans.

Star players like Rashid Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman, David Wiese, Haris Rauf and others played under Shaheen’s captaincy for the Lahore Qalandars. After a season full of high-scoring games and thrilling finishes, the Lahore-based franchise emerged as champions.

Fans should note that the Lahore Qalandars have been an integral part of the PSL since the first season. They have been home to some of the best players in the world, but somehow the team never managed to win the Pakistan Super League trophy.

Before last night’s match, most members of the cricket universe would compare the Lahore Qalandars with the Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL franchise because even RCB have been a part of the Indian Premier League since the first season but have never won the title.

Speaking of the PSL 2022 Final that happened yesterday night, a 46-ball 69 from Mohammad Hafeez guided the Lahore Qalandars to 180/5 in 20 overs. Lahore did not have Rashid Khan’s services for this match because he is on national duty.

David Wiese provided an excellent finish to the innings, scoring 28 runs off just eight deliveries. Asif Afridi bowled a magical spell of 3/19 for the Multan Sultans, but his efforts went in vain because the Multan batters got all out for 138 runs and lost the PSL 2022 Final.
