Former Australia cricketer Brett Lee has lavished rich praise on Indian Cricket Team’s pacer Umran Malik. He said that the Jammu and Kashmir bowled is a superstar in the making and the team should look to fast-track him into the Test set-up. He also shared valuable advice for injured Jasprit Bumrah.

“He is a superstar in the making,” Brett Lee wants Indian management to fast-track Umran Malik into the Test set-up

Umran Malik rose into the ranks after his sheer pace surprised many during the IPL 2022. His ability to bowl 150 kmph consistently impressed one and all and it also troubled many batters.

Not only did Umran impress many with his pace, but he also was the strike bowler for his team and took 22 wickets in the tournament, the fourth-highest in this season. His heroics made his debut for India in the T20Is. He bowed decently during his debut series against Ireland and also defended 17 runs in the last over of the second T20I to help his side win the match.

However, after that, he asserted his authority in the ODI format as well as he made a staggering debut in New Zealand and then was breathing fire in the ODIs against Bangladesh as well and was the leading wicket-taker in T20Is against Sri Lanka and second highest wicket-taker in ODIs. It is fair to say if he performs well he can be a vital cog for India in World Cup next year.

With Umran breathing fire in almost every game, he’s a strong candidate to break Akhtar’s record of 161.3 kph. His fastest delivery so far has been 157 kmph, which he bowled in the IPL 2022.

He also bowled the fastest delivery by an Indian in T20Is and ODIs when he clocked 155 kmph and 156 kmph respectively against Sri Lanka. Many have backed him to script history and become the fastest bowler in the history of the game and break.

However, there have been many calls related to his inclusion in the Test side. He made his debut in red-ball cricket for India A in the 2021 South Africa tour and has done a decent job.

Recently during the Legends League cricket, Brett Lee was asked about Umran’s inclusion in the Test side. Replying to this, he said: “Why not? He is good enough in my opinion. He has got good pace, got nice action and runs well with a beautiful approach. So yes he can be injected. He is a superstar in the making”.

“The only advice I would say is that with his run-up being so short, he has to find that pace and power out of his action,” Brett Lee’s advise to Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has been out of the cricketing action since September 2022. He is battling with his back injury and is likely to be out of action for a few months. Brett Lee shared valuable advise for the pacer. He elaborated:

“I wouldn’t say it makes it weak. I would definitely say that it leaves a whole in there. And I mean this as a compliment because he is that good. Bumrah has got a wonderful record. Unfortunately for him, he has had that worrying back issue for quite sometime now.

“The only advice I would say is that with his run up being so short, he has to find that pace and power out of his action where I think, maybe now in due course, he might extend his run up to allow that pressure to be taken of his back.”

Bumrah reportedly has underwent a back surgery and is likely to resume bowling in August this year.
