“You Need That Ability In Australia”- Rohit Sharma Backs Big-hitter Sanju Samson
Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma showered praise on the squad’s wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson ahead of the 3-match T20I series against the Sri Lankan cricket team. Speaking to media before the first T20I, Sharma said that Samson has been called back to the squad keeping the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
Australia will host the grand event later this year, and it will be played at the bigger grounds. The Indian team will need big-hitters in the squad when they play matches Down Under, which is why they need to back Sanju Samson now.
At a pre-match press conference, Rohit Sharma talked about the skills that Sanju Samson possesses and said:
Sanju Samson has not played international cricket for the Indian team since July 2021
Samson has been a good performer for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, but he has not received consistent chances to play for the Indian cricket team. Although he played his debut T20I match back in 2015, the wicket-keeper batter has played only a total of 10 T20I games in his career so far.
Two T20 World Cups have happened since Samson’s debut, but he did not receive a place in the Indian squads for both tournaments. Now he has a chance to strengthen his candidature for a spot in the team.
Fans know that Rishabh Pant is the number one wicket-keeper batter in India, but Sanju Samson can fit into the playing XI as a specialist batter. The cricket world has seen his fielding skills, and Samson can make it big if he gets going soon.
