“You have seen my good side, but if I want, I can be rude, and you wouldn’t like to see that side”, Harbhajan Singh recalled the exact moment when Sachin Tendulkar lashed out at him

Harbhajan Singh, an ex-Indian off-spinner, once recounted an incident in which Sachin Tendulkar became upset with him. The great batter is widely regarded as one of the most modest and level-headed personalities in cricket, but it is only logical that, over the course of his 24-year playing career, he would have lost his temper on occasion.

Harbhajan recounted that during a tour game in Australia, Tendulkar, the team captain, reprimanded him for being careless on the boundary line.

In an upcoming chapter of his book titled “Sachin @50,” the off-spinner penned the following: “Bhajji, please know one thing. You have seen my good side, but if I want, I can be rude, and you wouldn’t like to see that side of me, you better concentrate.”

He went on to say that Tendulkar was a mentor to him as he rose through the ranks of international cricket. Harbhajan went on to have a very successful career, and he and Tendulkar enjoyed many memorable moments, especially in the 2000s.

After a string of disappointing performances dating back to his 1998 debut, Harbhajan Singh finally broke through in the 2001 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India won the series by a score of 2-1, and the victory was largely credited to the 32 wickets that the off-spinner took.

In the historic second Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, he and Sachin Tendulkar both had roles with the ball. In a thrilling period, Harbhajan took a hat trick while Tendulkar picked up key wickets. Their work, together with the brilliant batting of VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid in the second innings, contributed to India’s biggest Test victory in history.
