Indian captain Rohit Sharma skipped the ODI series opener against Australia owing to family commitments. In his absence, Hardik Pandya led the team from the front at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The Men in Blue drew the first blood in the series by beating the Men in Yellow by 5 wickets. Talking about the second ODI, Australia responded straightaway with a win over India. They beat India by 10 wickets with ease.

Australia clinched the ODI series decider by beating India by 21 runs at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Aussies won the ODI series by 2-1 and interim skipper Steve Smith led the team ever so well.

Sunil Gavaskar wants skipper Rohit Sharma to play all ODIs

Rohit Sharma came back to lead the team in the second and third ODI. However, things didn’t really go in favour of the hosts as they totally lost the plot against the Aussies in both fixtures.

After India’s series loss to Australia, former Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar wants the captain Rohit Sharma to play all ODIs. While speaking to Star Sports, Sunil Gavaskar urged Rohit Sharma to play every game for India.

Sunil Gavaskar further added that when comes to the ICC World Cup event, one can’t have a family commitment. The Indian batting maestro wants the players to finish everything that they have unless it is an emergency.

Rohit Sharma failed to bring the best out of himself as a batsman and captain in the second and third ODI. He scored 13 off 15 balls in the Visakhapatnam ODI before he fell prey to Mitchell Starc’s bowling.

In the third and final ODI, he was dismissed by Sean Abbott’s delivery while trying to play a pull shot. He ended up hitting the ball straight into the hands of Mitchell Starc. Rohit Sharma departed after making 31 off 17 balls.
