Chennai Super Kings had a solid outing at IPL 2024 Auctions. The team was aware of the areas that needed improvement. They made some key signings and at the same time, they also hired some youngsters for the future. CSK will be expected to defend the trophy under the leadership of MS Dhoni. On that note, here, we predict CSK’s playing XI for IPL 2024.

Openers: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway will be the openers in CSK’s playing XI for IPL 2024. It will be the same opening combination for CSK in IPL 2024. The duo did well in IPL 2023 and will be backed to deliver again. However, for Conway, the rope might be shorter if he is not in good form. Rachin Ravindra will be available as his backup.

Middle-Order: Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Daryl Mitchell and MS Dhoni (C&WK)

Ajinkya Rahane will continue to play at No.3 while his Mumbai mate Shivam Dube comes at No.4. While both will be given a lot of games to perform, Sameer Rizvi could be an option if there is a form or fitness issue.

Daryl Mitchell comes in as the direct replacement for Ambati Rayudu. It is unlikely that CSK will make use of his bowling. It will be interesting to see the kind of form MS Dhoni would be in.

All-Rounders: Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur is the new addition to CSK’s playing XI for IPL 2024. While Jaddu will continue to play for the team, Shardul Thakur’s arrival improves the bowling attack and the depth in the batting. Shardul is likely to be the key bowler in the middle overs.

Bowlers: Deepak Chahar, Maheesh Theekshana and Mathisha Pathirana

Deepak Chahar’s recent form makes him one of the first names on the team sheet. Maheesh Theekshana will join Jaddu in the spin attack. Since Moeen Ali may not feature, pressure will be on the spinner to do his job well. Pathirana will do his job at the death with Mustafizur Rahman as his backup.
