Gautam Gambhir was one of the integral players of the Indian cricket team during the heydays of his cricketing career. He has played several match-winning and impactful knocks for the Indian cricket team when it mattered the most.
Gambhir made his presence count both in the T20 World Cup 2007 and ODI World Cup 2011 as a batsman. He was also a brilliant captaincy material where he led Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.
Under his captaincy, Kolkata Knight Riders have won two IPL titles – in 2012 and 2014. Meanwhile, he is currently serving as the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants. His journey as LSG mentor kick-started last season when the Lucknow-based franchise made its debut in the IPL 2022 season.
Case in point, Gautam Gambhir has contributed to various causes and assisted those in need financially time and time again. Notably, he has been immensely involved in philanthropic work for several years now.
Gautam Gambhir financially helps Rahul Sharma’s family
Meanwhile, the former Indian cricketer made the headlines after he financially helped former Indian cricketer Rahul Sharma’s family when his mother-in-law was in critical condition.
This is indeed a beautiful gesture by Gautam Gambhir and he drew plaudits from every nook and corner of the country for his timely assistance. On the other hand, one of the major causes that Gautam Gambhir has been particularly fervid about is education.
Notably, he has set up a foundation “Gautam Gambhir Foundation” that backs the underprivileged children by offering them with education and other important necessities.
On top of that, the foundation has paved the way for building schools and classrooms in rural areas, thus enabling the children from the backward sections of the society to have access to education.
The former Indian cricketer has also chipped in with important donations to organizations that support the families of soldiers who were martyred in the line of duty.
We need more of these moments of compassion and empathy in the world.
