In the current Twenty20 World Cup 2022, India’s Virat Kohli has been in amazing form. The former skipper just smashed his second consecutive fifty, this time a 44-ball 62 against the Netherlands in their second Super 12 encounter at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday, October 27.

After getting off to a poor start in the powerplay, India was able to score 179 for 2 in 20 overs on the board thanks to fifty-run contributions from Virat Kohli, skipper Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav.

As of the end of the second match of the Twenty20 World Cup, Virat Kohli has scored 144 runs and still not got out. In India’s nail-biting victory against Pakistan in Melbourne, Kohli scored an incredible 82 not out off only 53 balls. He then backed it up with a well-paced 62 against the Netherlands.

Kohli also moved over the legendary West Indian batter Chris Gayle on the list of batters who have scored the most runs in men’s Twenty20 World Cup competition with the help of his strong effort against the Netherlands. Kohli has now accumulated 989 runs in 23 games, and he is just 11 runs away from joining Mahela Jayawardene in an exclusive group reserved for players who have scored 1000 runs.

If the early signs in Australia are anything to go by, then Virat Kohli is looking set to regain peak form in the shortest format of the game. Kohli has a staggering average of 89.90 in T20 World Cups.

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has time and time again shown his admiration for Virat Kohli. In a recent interaction, Amir stated that Kohli is the best batsman of this generation.
