Kolkata Knight Riders have made a bold statement while locking horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Batting first, the visitors posted 171/9 in their quota of 20 overs.

The likes of Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana chipped in with scores of 46 and 42 runs respectively. On the contrary, the likes of T Natarajan and Marco Jansen bowled pretty well by taking two wickets apiece.

In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad performed pretty well in fragments but at the same time, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, which paid the way for KKR to get back into the game.

Abdul Samad who was looking good at 21 was dismissed by mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy in the third ball of the 20th over. It was when SRH started to lose the plot.

Meanwhile, Varun Chakravarthy exposed SRH’s frailties by keeping them silent till the last ball. Varun conceded just 20 runs in four overs and took a wicket and was named the player of the match.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the game by five runs and keep their playoffs hopes alive. Currently, KKR are eighth on the points table with four wins and six defeats, collecting eight points.
