Indian captain Rohit Sharma failed to bring the best out of himself in the eighth edition of the ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The right-handed batter lacked flair and elegance in the tournament.

Coming out to bat as an opener, the veteran cricketer hardly made his presence count on the pitch. The opposition teams have easily plotted a strategy to get rid of him for cheap scores.

It has really been a frustrating outing for Rohit Sharma in this T20 World Cup barring the only half-century he scored against the Netherlands cricket team at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Moreover, his strike-rate fell too low and it was really disappointing to see a player of his stature not scoring runs at the rate of knots. In fact, Rohit Sharma is one such batter who is tailor-made for Australian conditions.

Virender Sehwag says old Rohit Sharma’s flair was missing in T20 World Cup 2022

The 35-year-old has a pretty good record with respect to playing in Australian conditions. Needless to say, the cricket fraternity was disappointed with the way he went about his business in this showpiece event.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer, Virender Sehwag who is a huge fan of Rohit Sharma was also disappointed with the Indian captain’s performance in the T20 World Cup 2022.

The former Indian opener made an honest assessment of Rohit Sharma’s batting adding that the latter looked out of form and that the old Rohit Sharma’s flair was clearly missing in the showpiece event.

However, he did pretty well as a captain, racking up wins over Pakistan, Netherlands, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe respectively. India collected eight points from the Super 12 stage more than any other team in the competition.

Needless to say, they lacked the killer instinct to deliver the goods in the second semi-final against England cricket team as Jos Buttler and Co defeated Team India by 10 wickets at Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.
