Ravindra Jadeja, after scoring a big hundred for India in the first innings of the ongoing test match against Sri Lanka, turned up with the ball as well and registered a 5-wicket haul to his name to bundle Sri Lanka out for just 174 on the third day of the game.

There was not a lot of turn on offer for the spinners on Mohali surface, but Jadeja had rough patches to work with outside the off stump of the left handers. Those patches were created by the right arm fast bowlers bowling over the wicket from the opposite end.

While the ball was not spinning big from the line of the stumps, it was certainly spinning from the rough patches and Jadeja took advantage of that, hitting the rough on a consistent basis and troubling the left handers right through. Even while bowling to the right handers, the southpaw kept it very tight and there was no room for release shots for the Sri Lankan batsmen.

Ravindra Jadeja was making a comeback to test cricket after recovering from injury

It was a special performance from Jadeja not just because he excelled with both bat and ball in the same test match and was India’s best performer in both departments, but also because he was making a comeback after an injury, but didn’t look rusty at all and was at the job straightaway.
