In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Cricbuzz, ace Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The pacer was expected to make a comeback after a prolonged injury in the league.
Bumrah did the rounds when a fuss was created related to his selection in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He originally was not named in the ODI series squad for Sri Lanka and then was added to the team as a late addition after the medical team deemed him fit to play.
The pacer complained about stiffness in his back and governing body decided to keep Bumrah fresh for India’s upcoming important assignments. It was expected that he would make a comeback in the Tests against Australia.
But this hasn’t been the case as he was not named in the squad for the last two Tests and the ODI series against Australia. The recent reports suggest that he will miss the IPL and World Test Championship Final as well as the team management is making sure to get him fit by the ODI World Cup 2023.
Bumrah notably, has been out of cricketing action since September 2022. He suffered a back injury and was ruled out of the T20 World Cup and all the India games after that.
Bumrah getting ruled out of the IPL will be a massive blow for Mumbai Indians considering the kind of impact the pacer had. It will leave a massive void in the side as they don’t have any quality Indian pacer in the side. It remains to be seen who the franchise will name as a replacement.
