Pakistan Team faced numerous controversies before the 2023 ODI World Cup. Much of it got triggered after the team’s terrible show in the Asia Cup 2023. Nevertheless, the management has made the right decision in backing the current players. That said, a few players will consider themselves unlucky. In fact, a few might announce retirement, as well. Here, we take a look at the list of two Pakistan cricketers dropped for the ODI World Cup who might retire soon.

1) Sarfaraz Ahmed

Sarfaraz Ahmed is one of the Pakistan cricketers dropped for the ODI World Cup who might retire soon. It is after 7 years that Pakistan will be in India. Hence, many felt the team might go with some experience. Hence, Sarfaraz had a slight chance.

Now that he has been ignored, in all possibility, he is likely to hang up his boots. His only chance will be in Tests and even that won’t be easy considering his age. With so many T20 leagues coming up, the former Pakistan skipper can focus on improving his T20 game and maximising the rest of his career.

2) Imad Wasim

With the likes of Mohammad Nawaz underperforming for a while, many felt that there would be a massive change in the all-rounder’s group. Imad Wasim has been out of the team for various reasons. However, with the need arising, there was a chance for him to make a comeback.

It also needs to be noted that he has been in terrific form off-late. In the recently concluded CPL, he ended as one of the highest run-getters and wicket-takers. With so much to show, Imad still got ignored. Now, he could altogether retire from ODIs. Pakistan might consider him for the T20 World Cup next year. If Imad Wasim fails to get to that squad, we could see retirement decision from him.
