Predicting strongest playing 11 of RCB for IPL 2023

Royal Challengers Bangalore have had a good outing in the last few seasons. Ahead of IPL 2023 Auctions, the team had a settled squad and hence, not many changes were needed. Nevertheless, the franchise did make some shrewd acquisitions such as that of Will Jacks. On that note, here, we take a look at the playing 11 of RCB for IPL 2023.

Openers: Faf du Plessis (C) and Virat Kohli

Faf and Virat will open the batting in the playing 11 of RCB for IPL 2023. Mike Hesson confirmed that Virat Kohli is likely to open for the franchise in IPL 2023. Faf du Plessis, as the skipper, will surely be in the XI. Hence, Faf and Virat will be at the top of the order for RCB.

Middle-Order: Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik (WK)

RCB’s middle order had a decent outing in IPL 2022. In the back end of last season, Rajat Patidar did well and hence, he will bat at No.3. Glenn Maxwell is an obvious choice at No.4 but if he is unavailable, Will Jacks will be his replacement. DK will look to repeat his show from IPL 2022. RCB will be wary of his age and could have some youngsters as a backup for DK.

All-Rounders: Mahipal Lomror, Wanindu Hasaranga and Shahbaz Ahmed

It will be a quality all-rounders unit in the playing 11 of RCB for IPL 2023. At No.5, RCB needs a left-hander. While Lomror is the preferred option now, Manoj Bhandage is the new option. Wanindu Hasaranga and Shahbaz Ahmed are the spin-bowling all-rounders for the franchise. They will have to be at their best at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Bowlers: Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj and Josh Hazlewood

RCB’s pace attack will not have any changes next season. Harshal Patel, Siraj and Josh will form the pace attack. It will be a challenge for them to do well in the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Reece Topley is one option who can come in here as the backup for Josh.
