KL Rahul has had a below-par performance in the T20 World Cup 2022 so far. He has been really out of form for quite some time now and in fact, some fans had even started to question his place in the Playing XI. It is true that he scored two back-to-back fifties against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and redeemed himself a bit but his form is still a big worry for Team India in the knockout stage.
A fan recently pointed out that KL Rahul’s slow approach, especially in the first few overs is killing India’s aggressiveness in the powerplay. As Aakash Chopra recently pointed out in one of his tweets, India need to perform better in playoffs, especially against top teams like England and New Zealand. Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav have single-handedly saved the Blues on many occasions in this tournament so far but if they fail to do so in some matches, India will be in big trouble. Thus, their top order needs to provide a good start in the powerplay.
However, it is not only KL Rahul’s fault. Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s form has also been abysmal in the tournament so far. In fact, he has made even fewer runs than KL Rahul. The opening partnership of KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma is currently the biggest weakness of this Indian side and we are missing players like Shubman Gill who proved to be in fine form lately.
We hope that both these players find their form in the upcoming match between India and England.
