IPL has always played host to a slew of exciting young cricketers who would go on to scale immense heights and lay down a path of fame and glory ahead of them. The latest edition of the IPL has been no exception as youngsters like Umran Malik, Ayush Badoni, B Sai Sudarshan and a few other promising names are coming to the front. There was a new addition to this glittering list and that was the young brutal fast bowler, Mohsin Khan who helped Lucknow to secure another victory.

Lucknow batted first and it was another KL Rahul masterclass that tipped the scales of the game as the Indian opener amassed 77 runs off 51 deliveries starring 4 fours and 5 sixes. He was perfectly complemented by Quinton de Kock at the start and Deepak Hooda up next. Shardul Thakur claimed three wickets while Axar Patel was the most economical of them all.

Delhi’s opening pair wobbled way too early, and that included a momentous surprise. A seasoned David Warner was left undone by Mohsin Khan’s pace as he holed out to Ayush Badoni. Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant would come together and stitch together a commanding partnership that would put Delhi back on track.

Here is what Harsha Bhogle said about Mohsin Khan

It was mainly Pant who would seem more menacing than the other Delhi batters, threatening to take the game away from the Giants. Rahul came up with some unorthodox captaincy here, throwing a young Mohsin Khan at the deep end as he was up against a marauding Pant who has formerly tamed big shots of the world like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood.

Believe it or not, Khan delivered one of the simplest weapons that a fast bowler may have and it was a wobble delivery and somehow Pant fell for the trap, expecting something more complicated. His timbre went for a walk as the Super Giants knew that they have almost bagged the game.

Given the unpredictable game that cricket always has been, a new pair would come up with the goods as Axar Patel and Rovman Powell would start firing on all cylinders. Just when it felt again that the Caribbean muscleman can make the impossible happen, it was Mohsin Khan who would conjure a slower peach, foxing Powell into producing the mishit and also concede the game.

Despite the best of efforts from Axar Patel, the task was cut out for the Capitals and Mohsin would cap his spell off perfectly with another wicket that would see Shardul Thakur falling for another variation trap, leaving him crumbling.

It is always good to see youngsters perform and the way Mohsin performed, it was simply mind-bending. Mohsin was heard saying in the press conference that his parents always wanted to see him feature in the IPL. Eminent commentator, Harsha Bhogle would pick up those lines and left a heartwarming tweet for the youngster. He would quote, “Mohsin Khan said his parents wanted to see him play in the #IPL. Well, they are going to be seeing a lot of him in the future.”
