After beating Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 13, England was crowned champions and took home their second T20 World Cup championship. Due in major part to some economical bowling by the English bowlers, Pakistan’s first innings score of 137/8 in their 20 overs was kept low. Adil Rashid was a standout bowler for England in the championship game.

Rashid took two wickets in his four overs, those of Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam, for a final tally of 4/22. He bowled a wicket maiden, a rarity in T20s, by taking Babar’s wicket in the 12th over of the innings. He did so, joining an exclusive group of bowlers, becoming just the fourth to achieve the feat in a Twenty20 World Cup final. His economy rate was 6.14 for the whole competition.

The success Adil Rashid has had with the ball suggests that the owners of many IPL clubs are interested in signing him as a leg spinner. As a matter of fact, Rashid has personally confirmed his availability for the next IPL 2023 auctions on December 23, 2022, in Kochi.

“Yes, I will be putting up my name in IPL auctions this time,” Rashid said.

But he claims he hasn’t contacted any franchises in advance of the auction.

In addition, Rashid said that he used the approach of bowling more slowly through the air than his fellow leg spinners Shadab Khan and Liam Livingstone did in the championship game. He also talked about the googly to Babar Azam which Azam failed to read and resulted in Babar;s wicket.
