Punjab Kings’ skipper Shikhar Dhawan has been in terrific touch with the bat in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The veteran cricketer who is already the second-leading run-scorer in the IPL has been bringing a plethora of experience to the table this season.

Punjab Kings have largely benefitted from the batter’s services so far this season. Under his captaincy, Punjab Kings won the first two games by close margins. PBKS won the first game against KKR by 7 runs (DLS Method).

After that, the Mohali-based franchise churned out a winning result over Rajasthan Royals as they won the game by a whisker of five runs. They had a chance to become the first team to win a hat-trick of games.

As it turned out, they let the opportunity slip away from their hands. Sunrisers Hyderabad who were looking for a win this season eventually opened their account by beating PBKS by eight wickets.

Talking about the game, Punjab Kings ran through a batting collapse while locking horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad recently. Punjab Kings were on the brink of posting a mediocre total on the board when they were reeling at 88/9.

Needless to say, Shikhar Dhawan led the batting attack by example as he chipped in with an unbeaten 99* off 66 balls where he composed his innings with the help of 12 fours and five sixes.

Dhawan’s terrific knock powered PBKS to a modest total of 143/9 in their quota of 20 overs. Mayank Markande was the pick of the bowlers for Sunrisers Hyderabad as he registered 4/15 in four overs.

In response, SRH chased down the target in 17.1 overs. Rahul Tripathi scored a match-winning knock of 74 off 48 balls (10 fours, 3 sixes). After the game, Dhawan was named the Player of the Match.
