Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is back to his imperious best in terms of anchoring the innings with grit and determination. The run machine was struggling with the form for quite a long time in international cricket.
Needless to say, he rose from the ashes in the Asia Cup 2022 tournament and finished the competition as the leading run-scorer for Team India with 276 runs in five matches including two fifties and a hundred.
Interestingly, it was also Virat Kohli’s maiden ODI century in Twenty20 Internationals. India’s run-scoring machine continued his good form into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia wherein he scored 296 runs including four half-centuries.
It is worth mentioning here that he finished the marquee event as the leading run-scorer. Kohli also ended his ODI century drought after nearly 40 months by scoring a century in the third ODI against Bangladesh in Chattogram.
Virat Kohli scripts history in international cricket
Former Indian captain Virat Kohli etched his name into the record books after he is the one and only player in the history of the sport to be a part of the ICC Test, T20I and ODI team of the year 2022.
Recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC), on Sunday, named the T20I team of the year 2022 based on the players’ performances in the shortest format of the game.
Notably, Virat Kohli was among the three Indians to be a part of the T20I team of the year. The other two Indians in the team are none other than Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is part of the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand. He scored his 74th ODI century in the third and final ODI against the Sri Lankan cricket team in Thiruvanthapuram.
Team India won the ODI series by 2-0, with one more game to be played. The final game will be held on January 24, Tuesday at Holkar Stadium in Indore.
