Team India and Australia have qualified for the World Test Championship final which is slated to be played at The Kennington Oval in London from June 7 to 11, with June 12 set as the reserve day.
Recently, it was confirmed that KL Rahul will not take part in the ICC World Test Championship Final. He confirmed it in his social media post that he will be undergoing thigh injury.
He further added that he will be going through rehabilitation and recovery process in the coming weeks. As a result, he will not play his part in the highly-anticipated contest.
While we are thinking that KL Rahul’s absence is a big blow to India, considering that he averages 62 at The Oval, there is some shining light for Team India and the fans, courtesy of Cheteshwar Pujara’s stunning batting.
Cheteshwar Pujara scores his third consecutive ton for Sussex
India’s Test specialist is currently in England playing in the County Championship Division 2 for Sussex cricket team. It is indeed good to know that he is prepping for the World Test Championship as he is getting accustomed to the conditions.
The experienced campaigner made the headlines after he scored his third consecutive century for the Sussex cricket team. He has been unstoppable and his current form is important for Team India going forward into the WTC Final against Australia.
Moreover, the wicket at The Oval will assist the batters and hence the team that wins the toss will obviously opt to bat first and add more runs on the board. Team India will rely on Cheteshwar Pujara to dominate the proceedings in the English conditions against Australia.
At the time of writing the article, Pujara is batting on 124 off 149 balls where he struck 19 fours and a six. Sussex have posted 304/6 in 73.4 overs. Earlier, Worcestershire posted 264 in the first innings. Sussex are leading by 40 runs.
