Cheteshwar Pujara Set To Become Only The Second Indian Player To Play For Four Teams In England’s County Cricket
Veteran Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara is all set to play for his fourth county in this year’s county cricket season. England is home to county cricket, and every year, quite a few overseas players travel to the United Kingdom to play county matches.
Through this way, they can not only improve their skills in English conditions but also earn a decent amount of money during the off-season in international cricket. Pujara registered himself for the IPL 2022 Mega Auction and even made it to the final list of players. However, he remained unsold.
Fans expected the Chennai Super Kings to sign him because he was with CSK last year in the IPL. However, he did not play a single game in IPL 2021 and is now all set to play county cricket during IPL 2022. Last year, Hanuma Vihari played county matches in England ahead of the World Test Championship Final and the England tour.
The Indian cricket team is scheduled to play a Test match in the ICC World Test Championship against the England cricket team later this year away from home. Thus, playing in county matches will help Pujara adjust himself in English conditions, and if he performs well, he can even earn a spot in the Indian squad for that match.
Cheteshwar Pujara has joined Murali Kartik in an elite list of players
Cheteshwar Pujara will appear for Sussex in the English County Championship in 2022. He had earlier played for Derbyshire in 2014, Yorkshire in 2015 & 2018 & Nottinghamshire in 2017.
Murali Kartik had also represented four county teams: Lancashire, Middlesex, Somerset & Surrey.

Cheteshwar Pujara has signed up to play for Sussex this year as a replacement for Travis Head. In the past, he represented Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire in the county cricket matches.
Now, Pujara has become the second Indian after former Indian left-arm spinner Murali Kartik to achieve this feat. Kartik turned up for Lancashire, Middlesex, Somerset and Surrey during his county career.
