Indian national cricket team led by Rohit Sharma locked horns with the Bangladesh cricket team in the second ODI of the three-match ODI series at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on December 7, Wednesday.
Bangladesh cricket team captain Litton Das won the toss and chose to bat first in the second game. The Tigers lacked teeth from the top-order batting unit as the hosts ran through a collapse.
The hosts were reeling at 69/6 and were on the brink of posting a low-scoring total on the board. However, the likes of Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah steadied the ship by scoring the bulk of runs.
Notably, the duo added a record 148-run stand for the seventh wicket, which is the highest partnership against India in One-Day Internationals. During the partnership, both batters scored fifty apiece.
Bangladesh defeat India by 5 runs
While Mahmudullah scored 77 runs including seven fours, Mehidy Hasan scored his maiden ODI century and remained unbeaten on 100 off 83 balls with the help of eight boundaries and 4 sixes. Bangladesh cricket team posted 271/7 in their quota of 50 overs.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan opened the batting for India as Rohit Sharma sustained an injury on his finger. He went to the hospital for a scan and got the injured finger stitched and then headed back to the stadium.
India also ran through a batting collapse as they were reeling at 65/4. However, the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel added 107 runs for the fifth wicket. Iyer scored 82 off 106 balls including six fours and 3 sixes whereas Axar Patel scored 56.
Rohit Sharma came out to bat and scored 51 off 28 balls (3 fours, 5 sixes). In the end, Bangladesh won the game by 5 runs and clinched the series by 2-0.
