Fans on Twitter were confused with Shikhar Dhawan’s statement ‘I don’t feel any fear in losing captaincy’ ahead of the first ODI against New Zealand. They feel that the senior Indian batter was hinting about his captaincy stint for Punjab Kings.
“I don’t feel any fear in losing the captaincy,” Shikhar Dhawan ahead of the first ODI against New Zealand
India is all set to lock horns with New Zealand in three-match ODI series. The first game will be played on Friday (25th November) in Auckland followed by the second and third games to be played on November 27th and 30th in Hamilton and Christchurch respectively.
With senior players being rested, Shikhar Dhawan has been handed the responsibility to lead the young Indian side. Notably, Dhawan has been captaining the team in ODIs quite regularly in absence of senior players and was also handed the leadership role of the Punjab Kings in IPL.
Ahead of the first ODI against New Zealand, Dhawan was asked about the captaincy, replying to which he said: “I don’t feel any fear in losing the captaincy, we come into the world empty-handed & leave empty handed”.
Dhawan (in Espn Cricinfo) said "I don't feel any fear in losing captaincy, we come into the world empty handed & leave empty handed".

Not only as a captain Dhawan would want to step up with the bat as well if India has to fancy their chances of winning the ODI series. The 50-over series will kick-start India’s preparation for the ODI World Cup next year.
