
England cricket team led by Ben Stokes drew first blood in the series by beating the hosts, Pakistan cricket team by 74 runs in the first Test match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.
The Three Lions arrived in Pakistan for the historic Test series in 17 years. The first game turned out to be a run-scoring fest as England batters totally dominated the first innings by piling up runs on the board.
The visitors posted a humongous total of 657 runs in the first innings, thanks to Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Harry Brook and Zak Crawley scoring a century apiece.
The collective efforts of these batters powered England to a high-scoring total. In reply, the Pakistan cricket team also showed that they do have the tools and resources to put up a competitive total of 579 runs in the first innings.
Shafique, Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq scored a century apiece for the hosts. Coming to the second innings, England 264/7 and then declared the innings. Harry Brook, Joe Root and Zak Crawley scored a half-century each.

England bowlers namely James Anderson and Ollie Robinson accounted for 4 dismissals each whereas Ben Stokes and Jack Leach took a wicket each as Pakistan totally collapsed in the run-chase.
Meanwhile, popular Indian commentator, Harsha Bhogle said he is in awe of how Ben Stokes and Co are playing the purest format of the game. The commentator added that England have taken a match on a pitch designed for a tedious batting draw and turned it into a thrilling test game.
Harsha Bhogle’s tweet spread like wildfire on social media portals. England cricket team won the game by 74 runs and took the first lead in the three-match Test series, with two more games to go.
The second Test between Pakistan and England will take place on December 9 at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan.
