“Run-machine” Virat Kohli has scored two centuries in his last three matches against Sri Lanka. Against Sri Lanka, in the series’ third game on Sunday in Trivandrum, the talismanic batsman scored his 46th ODI century. Two of Sachin Tendulkar‘s “all-time records” were shattered by Kohli throughout this procedure. In the 50-over version of international cricket, Kohli has scored more hundreds against a single side than anybody else in history, passing Tendulkar in the process.

When Kohli achieved 100 runs in the first game of the series against Sri Lanka in Guwahati, he tied Tendulkar’s record. Kohli scored his 20th ODI century on home soil in only 99 innings, while Sachin needed 160.

It was Kohli’s 21st hundred in India, putting him ahead of Tendulkar for the record. This century came in the third One-Day International. Even more impressively, Kohli now holds the record for most One-Day International hundreds scored against a single side, surpassing Tendulkar’s previous mark of nine. Tendulkar and Kohli were tied for first with nine hundred each. Kohli has hit a record 10 tons against Sri Lanka, the most by any batsman against a single side in the history of the game.

Tendulkar has hit as many hundreds against Australia as Virat has against the West Indies (9), while Virat has scored 9 hundred against the West Indies. In the first ODI between India and Sri Lanka, Kohli surpassed Sachin’s record of eight hundred.

Prior to that point in the game, Kohli had passed the great Mahela Jayawardene to become the fifth-highest-scoring hitter in ODI history. It was at the 62nd run of the game when Kohli did so. Jayawardene has scored 12,650 runs for Sri Lanka in 50-over matches.

Kohli now has 46 hundred in one-day internationals, 27 hundred in tests, and one hundred in Twenty20s. Former India opener Gautam Gambhir heaped praise on Virat Kohli and said that he will have the best year in 2023.
