On May 6th, 2023, as part of a doubleheader, the Delhi Capitals will play the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 50th match of the IPL. When these two teams last played, RCB came out on top by a score of 23 runs. Despite Manish Pandey’s fifty, DC’s score of 151/9 in 20 overs was well short of the 175 runs they needed to win, as RCB bowlers Vyshak Vijay Kumar and Mohammed Siraj shone.

In the first innings, RCB scored 174/6 in 20 overs thanks in large part to 50 runs scored by Virat Kohli off just 34 balls. As a team, DC took two wickets off the hands of Kuldeep Yadav and Mitchell Marsh. Throughout the game, Kohli’s feud with DC’s director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly, escalated.

After giving Ganguly the death gaze during the 18th over of DC’s chase from the dugout, Kohli and Ganguly did not shake hands after the game. Sreesanth, a former cricketer, has taken note of the rivalry between Kohli and Ganguly and predicts an exciting match when the two players meet again.

When RCB played the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium earlier this week, Kohli got into a fight with Naveen-ul-Haq and Gautam Gambhir. RCB triumphed well, beating LSG by 18 runs despite setting a very modest goal of 127. Gambhir got into it with the former India captain after an on-field incident between Kohli and Naveen.

Kohli and Gambhir were both penalized 100% of their match fees, while Naveen was fined 50%. While Ganguly was president of the BCCI, Virat resigned as India’s captain.
