The Ashes 2023 series has been keeping everyone on its toes and it’s fair to say that it’s an indication that Test cricket is well and truly alive. England and Australia played a high-quality brand of cricket as both the games went down the wire and there wasn’t any surety about who will win. The series has been slightly in favour of Australia but England is not too far behind and it promises to be another two great games.

2 tactical changes Australia should do for the fourth Test to get back to winning ways

Australia was on the verge of clinching their first-ever series in England since 2001 but the hosts put on a magnificent performance in Headingley and made a stunning return after being down for two games. They only need to win one game to etch the history and would be eyeing to do that in the next game at Manchester. Going into the game, they would be looking to make some changes as well and let’s take a look at 2 tactical changes Australia should do for the fourth Test to get back in winning ways:

Travis Head to open and Cameron Green to be included in the team

One of the tactical changes Australia should do for the fourth Test to get back to winning ways is they might ask Travis Head to open the innings and drop David Warner. The veteran Australian opener has struggled to get going and has not been at his best, which has been the main reason behind Australia’s struggle to get a good start. This might prompt management to push Travis Head up the order as it will allow them to play Cameron Green as well. The presence of Green will help the team to have two all-rounders in the team and the pacers can rest up as well in the game.

Josh Hazlewood in place of Scott Boland

Bringing Josh Hazlewood might be another tactical change that Australia might do. The pacer played the first two games and was one of the main reasons behind Australia winning those games. But due to some niggle he missed the third and Australia lost that. Scott Boland on the other hand has been doing well but with the presence of Cameron Green and Mitchell Marsh in the squad, team management would want to bring variety in the team and would be looking to give in Hazlewood a chance.
