India’s Shubman Gill has scored a sensational century against Sri Lanka in the third match of the ongoing 3-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka. Gill, who had looked sharp in the previous two matches as well, was finally able to get going in this match and he finally got his much deserved century. Even in the last match at the Eden Gardens, Gill played a number of very good shots before being caught out. He has redeemed himself in this match finally.

In the match being played at the Greenfield Stadium , India won the toss and opted to bat first. The Sri Lankan bowlers caused no problem to the Indian batting line-up at all tonight. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have India a great start in the beginning with their 90+ runs partnership. Unfortunately, the Indian captain had to depart after scoring 42 runs. His opening partner, Gill, however, had other intentions. He kept on batting alongside Virat Kohli who supported the youngster well.

Shubhman Gill thus ended up scoring a ton in just 89 deliveries. Kohli, on the other hand, had already completed his half century in just 48 deliveries by then.

As we speak, India has scored 220 runs in just 32 overs and if these two batters stay on the pitch till the very end, we could easily expect a 360+ total. The game is in India’s hands tonight and the batters are totally out of pressure. This is thus a very good opportunity for Virat Kohli to complete his 74th century in International matches. He has 45 centuries in ODI to his name so far.

India has already won this series 2-0 and they have a chance of whitewashing the opposition by winning this match too. From what we can observe, it is only a moments’ wait before that turns into reality.
