On April 26, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will get a huge boost from the probable appearance of Josh Hazlewood against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The Australian pacer’s Achilles ailment originally kept him out of play for the first months of IPL 2023. But the 33-year-old has been practising in the nets in preparation for the next encounter against KKR and is fit to play. According to the latest information supplied by RCB, Australian pacer Hazlewood will be ready to return to action in two months.
The RCB have been struggling with their death bowling, but with Hazlewood in the lineup, they have a huge advantage. Two times out of seven matches, RCB’s bowlers have been responsible for not defending runs of 200 or more. Hazlewood’s two death overs should be enough to end the match. The RCB bowler had a remarkable previous IPL season, in which he took 20 wickets while allowing just 8 runs per over.
Josh Hazlewood is close to 100 per cent ready to play against KKR
Hazlewood hopes to help RCB establish some consistency in the second half of the IPL by forming a powerful bowling combination with the Indian seamer Mohammed Siraj, who is currently in a fantastic rhythm.
Hazlewood is expected to replace David Willey. The England fast bowler has performed well in his few chances for RCB. Willey has taken 3 wickets for RCB in 3 games, at an economy rate of 6. Willey is the only choice since RCB is not likely to bench Faf du Plessis (captain), Glenn Maxwell (highest strike rate for RCB), or Wanindu Hasaranga (premier spinner).
Because of his importance to the Australian Test team, Hazlewood’s fitness will be rigorously watched during the IPL. It is crucial that the RCB bowler reaches peak form in the IPL 2023 season, as he would need to be at his best for the WTC Final against India and the five Ashes Tests against England in June and July.
