Chennai Super Kings thumped Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets to win their 5th title of the IPL. They produced a magnificent performance as they batted brilliantly and won the game on the last ball of the match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Bowling first, CSK were sloppy on the field and conceded 214 runs. But after that rain played its part and the game was reduced to 15 overs with a target of 170 runs. They came out all guns blazing and kept scoring runs at the run rate of around 12.
Ruturaj Gaikwad (26) and Devon Conway (47) came out all guns blazing and gave their team a blistering start. Shivam Dube struck some lusty blows in the middle along with Ambati Rayudu (19) and Ajinkya Rahane (27) to keep their side in the hunt.
With 13 runs needed off the last over, the first four balls went for just three runs. Ravindra Jadeja played staggering innings and smashed 10 runs off the last two balls to win the game for his side and claim the 5th title.
Following their victory, Gautam Gambhir lauded them for their blistering performance and said that winning 5 titles is unbelievable while for some teams even 1 is difficult. It was a potential dig at Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are yet to win a trophy.
