Both Sri Lanka and England had similar routes with their batting innings. Both teams started well but the bowlers from the opposition brought the game back. However, since England knew the target and had an experienced man in the middle, they were able to sail through.

Speaking about this, Broad did concede that he felt nervous when Hales got out. If India wins tomorrow against Zimbabwe, they would meet England in the semi-finals. Stuart Broad reckoned that the winner of that game will go on to win the T20 World Cup. Reasoning out the same, he mentioned that both teams have the maximum match winners and hence, would win the title.

England overcome injury setbacks to reach the semis of the T20 WC

Although England has a strong squad and was predicted to do well, the team had a number of injury issues. While Jofra Archer was unavailable, the team was jolted by the unavailability of Jonny Bairstow due to a freak injury. This forced them to bring Alex Hales into the squad after a long time. Reece Topley also was ruled out and this further gave a few issues for Jos Buttler and co.

However, despite the problems and the poor touch of Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone, the team was able to reach the semis. This will help their confidence as the tournament progresses to its final stages.
