Talking about IPL, MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful teams and groomed many players. However, being successful in IPL is extremely difficult. When it comes to grooming players, no other captain than MS Dhoni is better at the job, and in IPL, certain players have groomed under the CSK team. The players who are polished at CSK and later on played decent cricket and are well known by tons of cricketing fans.

1. Ravichandran Ashwin 

R.Ashwin has shown the world how a spinner could dominate and clinch wickets. Ravi Ashwin currently plays for Delhi Capitals, but he was previously playing and CSK and was often noticed by the world. Ashwin is the second-highest wicket-taker for CSK, even though he isn’t playing for CSK anymore. From 2009-2015 he played 119 matches and got 119 wickets with an economy of 6.63, which is quite good for a spinner.

Currently, Ashwin is Team India’s leading player in red-ball cricket and has also scored 5 test centuries and has created many records overall. While playing for CSK, Ashwin got a call in the Indian team for the 2011 world cup squad and continued to be a solid spinner. His overall IPL career consists of 139 wickets in 159 matches.

2. Ravindra Jadeja 

Sir Jadeja can never disappoint the audience. Another classy all-rounder who recently created a record by hitting five sixes in the final over against RCB. Jadeja was the part of 2008 U19 team which was led by Virat Kohli and later on played for Rajasthan Royals. In 2012 Jadeja was picked by CSK and showed his skills and currently is the leading player of CSK.

For CSK, Ravindra Jadeja is the third-highest wicket-taker and the top-notch all-rounder. Jaddu has played 191 matches so far in his IPL career and has scored 2290 runs and grabbed 120 wickets with the best bowling figures of 5/16. The CSK management well-groomed Jadeja, and he is currently the best bowling all-rounder in the world. 

3. Faf du Plessis

Who would’ve thought that one day Faf would captain South Africa? Instead, Faf showcased his real game at CSK and became the captain cool of South Africa. Captain Dhoni always trusted Faf since the team picked him, and playing in CSK made a massive change in his cricketing career. Faf is currently third in the list of orange cap holders in the IPL 2021 and has scored 320 runs.

Faf is also the third-highest run-getter for CSK; he has played 91 matches in the IPL and scored 2622 runs at the strike rate of 131.03. As an opener for CSK, he has provided good starts for the team, and this year, he was looking in terrific form.

4. Sam Curran 

A complete all-round package team England has received in the name of Sam Curran. CSK picked Sam Curran in 2020, and since then, he has been the most valuable player for the team. Before getting into CSK, Sam played for Punjab and got a hattrick in his first season. Sam used to be a part of the England team but had some issues in contracting opportunities.

Since he played for CSK, England has genuinely realised his importance and picking him up as a regular player since then. Sam provides strong batting in the lower order and providing breakthroughs when the team struggles. Overall he has played 30 matches so far in IPL and has grabbed 32 wickets and scored 333 runs at an aggressive strike rate of 150.68.

5. Mohit Sharma 

CSK signed Mohit Sharma in 2013. Before he participated in CSK, he wasn’t that popular. Everyone thought Mohit can be a long term bowler but was a bit low later on due to some inconvenience. But CSK management trained him so well that he got a call in the Indian team and was replaced injured Ishant Sharma in the 2015 world cup, and he displayed a promising performance.

Mohit Sharma played 58 games for the Super Kings and got 69 wickets for them, and indeed comes in the list of cricketers groomed under the CSK team. Mohit Sharma is well known for his variations. After CSK, he was inconsistent for other teams, but CSK groomed him at the top level.
