South Africa is one side with a lot of potential but is yet to win any ICC event. That said, the team has a good chance of winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. On that note, here, we predict South Africa’s strongest XI for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Openers: Quinton de Kock (WK) and Reeza Hendricks
Having retired from ODIs, QDK‘s focus is completely on the T20 format. He would look to win an ICC trophy with the upcoming World Cup. There are a lot of options as the opening partner for QDK. However, they could go for Reeze Hendricks, at least, for the first few matches.
Middle-Order: Aiden Markram (C), David Miller, Tristan Stubbs and Heinrich Klaasen
It is a stunning middle-order in South Africa’s strongest XI for the 2024 T20 World Cup. It is here that South Africa will dominate most of the teams. Even excluding the likes of Rilee Rossouw and Dewald Brevis, South Africa has a stunning middle order, that can take down any opposition. Klaasen will be the most important person here.
All-Rounders: Marco Jansen
Marco Jansen will be the sole all-rounder in South Africa’s strongest XI for the 2024 T20 World Cup. South Africa will have to gamble a bit on their batting depth. Hence, Marco Jansen will have to play at No.7. He will also be one of the opening bowlers.
Bowlers: Gerald Coetzee, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi
South Africa will find it hard to form the bowling attack for the World Cup. Rabada will lead the attack while Coetzee will also be a part of it. The likes of Lungi Ngidi will also be in the fray. The spin department will have Maharaj and Shamsi. Youngsters such as Nandre Burger might also get a chance in the pace unit of this playing XI.
