The young CSK bowler Prashant Solanki has revealed that it was his Mumbai teammate Shardul Thakur who had recommended his name to the CSK team management last year after he saw him bowl in the Vijay Hazare trophy.
Prashant Solanki was in an exclusive conversation with Sportskeeda where he said that after Shardul recommended his name to the CSK management, he got a call from a CSK video analyst and was asked whether he would like to join the team as a net bowler for the second leg of the IPL 2021 which took place in UAE.
Solanki said he took the offer of being a net bowler because it was going to be a great learning opportunity for him, rubbing shoulders with some of the legends of the game in the net sessions.
Although the net bowlers were not allowed to be in the dugout or in the dressing room during the games, they were there in the nets and on the ground in a special spectators’ area when the matches were on.
CSK and Rajasthan Royals were interested in buying Prashant Solanki in IPL mega auction
Having seen his potential in the net sessions last year, CSK placed bids for Prashant Solanki in the mega auction earlier this year, but apart from CSK, Rajasthan Royals were also interested in Solanki. Solanki was, however, bought at a price of 1.2 crore INR by CSK after a brief bidding war.
Although Solanki didn’t get to play a lot of games for CSK in the recently finished IPL 2022, he might get regular opportunities next season as CSK will be playing their home games at Chepauk where the surface assists the spinners more often than not.
In the two games which Solanki played in IPL 2022, he impressed one and all, as his economy rate was less than 7 and he got a couple of key wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shimron Hetmyer in the game against Rajasthan Royals.
