Chennai Super Kings – Shardul Thakur
CSK has always relied on a deep batting line-up to do the job for them. In this regard, they have some fine options in the form of Shardul Thakur who could come up the order. Deepak Chahar can also be considered in this regard.
Delhi Capitals – Lalit Yadav
Lalit Yadav could play in the lower middle-order for the franchise. However, since DC does not have too many bowlers capable of being pinch-hitter, they can send Lalit early if they want some quick runs.
Gujarat Titans – Rashid Khan
Rashid Khan is one of the players each team can use as a pinch hitter for IPL 2024. Not just Rashid, even the likes of Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami are capable of this. However, Rashid would be a better fit as he has better batting skills than the Indian veterans.
Lucknow Super Giants – David Willey
With Mark Wood ruled out, David Willey could now get a chance to be a part of the playing XI. He is a decent player of spin and hence, it would not be a surprise if he gets a promotion in some games.
Punjab Kings – Harpreet Brar
Harpreet Brar has done well with the bat before. Hence, he can be used as a pinch-hitter. If there is a spinner bowling, the chance of Harpreet doing well increases. Therefore, he is on this list. Harshal Patel is also an option for the side.
Mumbai Indians – Gerald Coetzee
Gerald Coetzee is also one of the players each team can use as a pinch hitter for IPL 2024. Coetzee is a bowling all-rounder and can handle himself with the bat. If needed, he can be used as a pinch-hitter for MI.
Kolkata Knight Riders – Sunil Narine
Sunil Narine is already experienced in this role. He has opened the batting for KKR before. It won’t be a surprise if Gambhir opts for this strategy again. Therefore, Narine could be used as a pinch-hitter.
Rajasthan Royals – Avesh Khan
RR has used R Ashwin as an anchor in the top order. Avesh Khan is actually decent with the bat. If RR is in deep trouble and wants some magic, they could opt for a promotion to Avesh. However, unless RR’s troubles are too deep, they may not go with this choice.
Royal Challengers Bangalore – V Vyshak
V Vyshak has been developing himself as a batter in recent months. Even Akash Deep is also capable with the bat. One of these two pacers could be used as a pinch-hitter for the franchise.
Sunrisers Hyderabad – Pat Cummins
SRH also has multiple options for this context. The likes of Shahbaz Ahmed, Washington Sundar and Wanindu Hasaranga are all capable of delivering with the bat. However, Pat Cummins could be the preferred option if the coach really wants a pinch-hitter.
