The Border-Gavaskar Trophy kick-started on a dominating note for Indian Cricket Team. It’s fair to say that the Nagpur game was the highlight of how they have performed at home over the last one decade. India thumped Australia by a massive margin of an inning and 132 and ended the game in just 3 days. A similar story continued in the Delhi Test as they rattled the opposition and won the game by 6 wickets to take a lead of 2-0 in the series.

One change India should do for the next Test despite winning the first game

Indian team outclassed Australia in all three departments as they batted and bowled staggering well and made the opposition look clueless in Delhi Test. It was the brilliance of Indian spinners that was complimented well by batters as they retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. They ticked almost every right box. But there is still room for improvement for them. The hosts would want to rectify the mistakes they did in the second game and would want to seal the series in the third game. Let’s take a look at one change India should do for the next Test despite winning the second game.

Shubman Gill in place of KL Rahul

KL Rahul has come under a lot of scrutiny for his torrid run in Test cricket. A lot of eyebrows were raised when he started the series. But it was expected that he would give a befitting reply to all the critics. But it didn’t happen as he failed in the second game. Rahul got the backing of the team management in the second game as well but the same story continued for him as he yet again failed and managed just 18 runs across two innings. With him having a poor average of just 33 in over 45 games, his place in the side is under scanner too. We might see a change in the second game itself as inform Gill might replace Rahul at the top and might open innings alongside skipper Rohit Sharma. Gill on the other hand scored a century in the last game he played and is in red-hot form.

It’s fair to say that with the win in the second Test against Australia, they have put one step into the final of the Test Championship. All they need to do is that they need to win at least one of the remaining two games against Australia.
