WI vs IND 2022:Â Salman Butt, a former cricketer for Pakistan, believes that one of the reasons Team India is experimenting with different alternatives at the top of the order is because of the injury problems Rohit Sharma has been having. Butt acknowledges that the other members of the Men in Blue will be worried about the skipper’s ongoing fitness problems.
During the third Twenty20 International match against West Indies, which took place on Tuesday (August 2) in St. Kitts, Rohit retired hurt after 11 runs. An earlier injury to his hamstring meant that he would not be able to participate in any of the games in South Africa. After testing positive for COVID-19, he even skipped the rescheduled test that was supposed to take place in England.
Rishabh Pant opened the batting in the Twenty20 Internationals that Team India played in England, whilst Suryakumar Yadav has been batting with Rohit in the Twenty20 Internationals that Team India played in the West Indies.

WI vs IND 2022: What did Salman Butt say?
He said:Â “I have no idea what India’s opening combination will be. However, I believe that the team management is aware, somewhere in the back of their minds, that Rohit Sharma suffers from injuries on a regular basis. In the recent past, he had a positive COVID-19 test, and he has had more than his fair share of ailments.”
Butt said that it is necessary for Team India to have some backups in case the captain is unable to participate in the T20 World Cup in Australia due to injury.Â

“I don’t know the specific cause, but he has been coming and going. In a circumstance like this, you will need two or three more players who are psychologically prepared to take on the job. Because of this, you could see the roster being shuffled about or other players getting more playing time. KL Rahul and Rohit will open the batting if they are fit. India has to make preparations for the possibility that they won’t be accessible, just in case,” Butt added.
Because he had a positive test result for COVID-19, KL Rahul was unable to participate in the Twenty20 International series that is now being played in the West Indies. He is currently recovering from his illness. At the end of June, in Germany, he had successful surgery to cure a sports hernia.Â
