In the T20 World Cups held so far, India and Pakistan have clashed on five occasions. While India has won four games, one game is officially recorded as a tie but India actually won it via a bowl-out.
At Dubai on October 24th, the teams led by Virat Kohli and Babar Azam will meet again. The Pakistani squad will be keen to erase the memories of the past by starting well at the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Waqar Younis believes Pakistan can beat India at the T20 World Cup
Former Pakistani pacer Waqar Younis has worked closely with the team in recent years. He felt that his nation could hand a defeat to India at the World Cup.
Speaking to CricWick, Waqar said, “I honestly believe that Pakistan can beat India in their opening encounter if they play to their potential. It won’t be easy, but we certainly have the personnel who can come good.”
The former pacer added, “It’s a big game, and pressure will be on both teams as it will be their first match of the tournament. But the first few deliveries and runs will be crucial, but if we are able to negotiate it well we can win the game.”
As much as Pakistan, India will also be under pressure to win the game. There are a few weaknesses in the squad and those have to be dealt with at the earliest.
