Jaydev Unadkat has made it clear that the video he uploaded on Twitter of him hitting some big shots in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy the other day was not uploaded with the motive of taking a jibe at the selectors or any particular player for that matter.

According to Unadkat, he was just happy with how he had been batting in the tournament and most of the matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy were not being telecasted either. So, he thought he should “show off” his batting skills, and there was nothing more than that in his tweet.

A day ago, Jaydev Unadkat had uploaded a video of his batting where he was really playing some remarkable shots against some good fast bowlers and he captioned the video “just another pace bowler who can bat”.

There have been a lot of talks in the Indian cricketing circles in the recent past about the need of having a fast bowling allrounder in white-ball cricket with Hardik Pandya hardly bowling at all and effectively playing as a specialist batsman in recent times.

Fans thought Jaydev Unadkat might be throwing his hat in the ring as an allrounder

Venkatesh Iyer has recently been picked for the T20 series against New Zealand for the same role as Hardik after his impressive performances in the IPL and the domestic circuit. With Unadkat’s earlier tweet, people thought the left arm seamer might also have been throwing his hat in the ring as an allrounder. But, Unadkat was quick to clarify that his intention was not like that at all.

There is a mega IPL auction coming up and with the improved batting skills of Jaydev Unadkat, he might attract a couple of decent bids there, as teams in T20 cricket these days are increasingly interested in bowlers who can play some handy knocks with the bat, when needed down the order.
